Pym-Rae Proprietary Red Napa Valley 2019
Pym-Rae is POPPING OFF, good people! 100 POINT perfection, from Alfred Tesseron (who also owns one of my all-time favorite Bordeaux producers, Pontet Canet.) This is grown off Robin William’s old Napa Valley compound, way, WAY up at the peak of Mt. Veeder. Since the Tesseron family stepped in (but honored the comedic legend by maintaining his estate’s name, sourced from combining the name of his two children, Pym and Rae) the quality of production has become second to none in this entire valley — even continuing the process of organic and biodynamic certification to uphold the same rigorous farming standards as a top-growth Bordeaux estate.
We got THREE CASES — that’s all — so read fast and watch this FLY into the hands of some seriously STOKED Mountain Cab collectors! Crazy floral and drop-dead pretty right out the gate, but then picking up depth, intensity, and that signature Veeder wildness as it sits in the glass. The fruits offer a panoply of deeply rich berry and cherry flavors, plus tart plums, and plenty of spice accents. It’s a flat-out STUNNING expression of Mt. Veeder Cab — easily cracking the list of my personal TOP FIVE ALL-TIME for the region.
