Peake Ranch Pinot Noir Peake Ranch Vineyard Sta. Rita Hills 2021

What. A. Marathon!!! You people utterly ROCKED the house to its foundations, and even though most of the Last Bottle crew hasn’t slept more than a few winks since Thursday morning — we’re back at it with one MONSTER day of Cali-Coastal goodness! 96+ POINTS?! A full 66.666% OFF? And like Al Pacino in "Scent of a Woman"…I’m just getting warmed up!!!

We scored the ULTIMATE drop of 2021 gems from Peake Ranch — and these high-scoring beauties are soooo good, they deserve their own Marathon Saturday! One after the next, added to your Marathon hoard, and shipped gratis! Who doesn’t want 96+ POINT “Pommard-like” Pinot, for the incredible price of just $25?!?!

Literally, no one. Get after it now, people, and I’ll be brief…’cause this will be long gone if you aren’t on top of this. Peake Ranch is an ELITE S.R.H. winery, with an impressive array of UC Davis alums running the show like a full-time Masters Class symposium. It’s an impressive think tank of vinous talent…check it out!

Mike Anderson: winemaker. He served as a researcher, author, and educator at UC Davis for 30+ years — including running their Oakville Station program (you know, the heart of TO KALON vineyard that was handed off for research purposes)!

Dr. Maria Nikolantonaki: consulting enologist. She has degrees in winemaking from Greece and Bordeaux (literally a doctor of wine) before post-doc work at UC Davis, which got her wrapped up in this project. Currently a professor of wine at the University of Dijon.
I’m not even covering their assistant winemaker, Max (Master's in Vit & Enology) or their owner, John Wagner who, when not being a simply badass philanthropist (Google him), also has his UC Davis winemaking certificate. Soooo…I think I’ve established these folks know what they’re doing, right?!?!?

Inky, powerful, structured, and layered single-vineyard Pinot Noir is the happy result — a Burgundian beauty firmly grounded in the cool climate and impressive sunshine of Cali’s Santa Rita Hills, with a complexity that makes its usual $75 price point seem a steal. At one-third off, this is a no-brainer…awash with delicate floral notes of violets, lavender, and camphor, followed by red cherries, tart cranberries, even black raspberries — all grounded with this flinty, graphite-y minerality, and these warm, earthy spice sensations of tobacco and cedar, black tea, and freshly harvested black trumpet mushrooms. It’s intense and rugged, with a gorgeous decade-plus of seamless development. 96+ POINTS at this price?

Is there any even left????
