Ignore? Since when was ignoring the great La Fortuna estate ever an option?! This is one of the ORIGINAL GANGSTER Last Bottle direct imports from Italy, some of the greatest Brunello being made ever, and we’ve got the sweet hookup because we fell in love with La Fortuna and the Zannoni family years ago, long before Wine Advocate or Wine Spectator, or Vinous jumped on the bandwagon.
Started in 1907, the entire estate is centered around their centuries-old Tuscan farmhouse, where the family has lived for over a century. Around 20 acres of vines are planted between two vineyard sites: one near Fulginiae and the other in the south near Castelnuovo dell'Abate. The northern site is a bit cooler, while the southern vineyards are warmer, and each year they blend fruit from both locations. We sure miss our annual visits there...but we caught up with them at VinItaly in April – and this 2019 was flat-out STUNNING!
