Erikson & Caradin Pinot Noir Lotus & Quill Central Coast 2020

Stop it. Seriously...what the fudgesicle is going on? Tack on 100 point rockstar winemaker Kevin Morrissey – the Chateau PETRUS trained (plus Stags’ Leap, Ehlers, and Last Bottle favorite – Etude – with his mentor, Tony Soter), and it just sizzles the neurons...synapse overload...can’t. Form. Complete. Sentences...DAMN! That’s one heck of a CV...one that caused da man, Robert Parker Jr., to call him a “tour de force in the Napa Valley” and “a master of his craft.” Here, at the helm of Erikson & Caradin, Kevin is creating some of his best wines yet!

Why “Lotus & Quill”? Not sure exactly – but I’m guessing because this pinot is perfectly balanced, beautifully FLORAL, and elegantly PRECISE! This fantastically tiny production pinot noir – from cooler-than-cool ocean adjacent vineyards in Monterey and San Benito – SOARS with red rose, pomegranate tea, cinnamon, strawberry coulis, and mom’s cherry pie straight from the oven. It’s ridonkulously good…at WAY under $20?! Insane. Finishes with this cool minty, eucalyptus/menthol note too…just…aaaaaahhhhh! How we scored enough to share with all you pinot-mad Last Bottlers out there is utterly mystifying...but “OKLAHOMA” truth bomb time...there is not enough. Not nearly enough. So to the fastest fingers go the savings!!!
