Clos de Luz Cabernet Sauvignon Massal 1945 Rapel Valley 2021

Clos de Luz Cabernet Sauvignon Massal 1945 Rapel Valley 2021

Clos de Luz is back – those crazy old cabernet sauvignon vines that make up the best UNDER $20 cab you’ve ever had – and Last Bottle’s best-selling, south of the equator wine ever! DOUBLE 93 POINTS!

Tons of critical praise, the cool, spicy, ethereally jaw-dropping flavors that you’ll only find in Chile – don’t panic, don’t panic – you begged us for more, and we’ve DELIVERED! I promise you, as always, tons of long-time Last Bottlers jumped right to their carts the second the insanely memorable Clos de Luz bottle shot loaded in their email. So let’s not wait for the grass to grow, shall we?

Top critics call this “savoury, intense, elegant,” where “finely grained, polished tannins and juicy feel flow into a lingering, fruity finish…” with one going a step further, proclaiming this to be “a fruity-style cabernet, ready now for smoked ribs.” But my favorite has to be this recommendation “Why wait? Delicious now.”

Welp, I’m sold…but really – that’s ‘cause I’m sipping on this RIGHT NOW! Those ancient vines! Give ‘em a swirl and a moment to breathe – and POW! Uber fresh and percolating with aromas and flavors of crushed raspberries, some fresh roasted coffee, mulberries and jujubes, hibiscus agua fresca, cedar, tobacco…and…AND!!! The first sip EXPLODES with this zippy, tropical-y red fruit bomb of flavors – cool, bright, and intensely layered, with loads of spice and impressive structure, it’s just such a standout. This is a cool vintage for Almahue Valley – and this wine has harmony, and balance, and elegance…FOR DAYS!

Always a perennial favorite on our best “bang for the buck” list – this cabernet sauvignon sings at a price that makes our heads spin. This goes down smooooth as buttah, yet complex and structured as all get out to please you big, bold cabernet-lovers. It’s a freakin’ superstar, that’s all you really need to know – one of our prized finds that we look forward to EVERY year! Double 93 POINTS, and only EIGHTEEN DOLLARS…while it lasts!!!

** I mean – I’m certainly not turning down ribs (basically ever) but if I could be magically whisked away to Chile, and pair this with some buttery, flaky Empanadas de Pino – oh, baby, I’m in HEAVEN! Ground beef, with green olives and bits of hard-boiled eggs for me, please! **
